Critics Comments..
At first sight this may appear to be "just"
a closeup, albeit using the classic thirds and cropped tightly to increase tension.
Furthermore note the skillful cutting of the lower edge of the kickstart and
the space to the right so it almost has room to swing.
But closer inspection reveals Mr Tull's eye for echo's of the subject within
the photograph. One example is how the tubing at the bottom of the frame forms
an M and how the kickstarter itself echoes a Z. Another is skillful highlighting
of the red oil filler cap on the left of the frame and the sickle like form
of the kickstarter. All obvious references to the MZ's past.
